Our Take

Copilot is for developers who already live on GitHub and want an assistant inside their editor, the CLI and pull requests rather than a separate tool. The pace on GitHub's changelog is the story this month: local sandboxing became generally available and Copilot CLI can now discover local models (Oct 7), Copilot can drive desktop apps with computer use (Oct 1), and new models such as Gemini 4 Argon and Claude Haiku 5.5 joined the picker. Agentic autofix for code scanning alerts also reached general availability on Oct 15, which matters most to teams that already run GitHub's security tooling. Source
