Our Take
Amazon Q Developer is winding down. AWS stopped new signups on May 15, 2026, and the IDE plugins and paid subscriptions reach end of support on Apr 30, 2027. Existing Pro customers can still add users until then. AWS is steering developers to Kiro, its spec-driven IDE and CLI, which carries over agentic coding, inline chat and MCP support. Q Developer in the AWS Console, the docs and the Slack and Teams apps isn't affected. If you rely on its Java upgrades or .NET porting, AWS recommends finishing them before the cutoff. Source
